4 More Verses for Continued Life Change!
This week’s Bible reading: Joshua 10-21; Psalms 142-150; Acts 1; Jeremiah 4-10; Matthew 18-24
JOSHUA 10-21
This weeks’ reading in Joshua focuses on the land distribution for Israel in the Promised Land. It may seem tedious to read, but the last few verses that we will read this week help put everything in perspective. Keep these verses in mind as you read:
“Thus the LORD gave to Israel all the land that he swore to their ancestors that he would give them; and having taken possession of it, they settled there. And the LORD gave them rest on every side just as he had sworn to their ancestors; not one of all their enemies had withstood them for the LORD had given all their enemies into their hands. Not one of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.” – Joshua 21:43-45
PSALMS 142-150; ACTS 1
“The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” – Psalm 145:8
This is an important verse, as time and time again it is this description that God uses to explain himself to us! Check out Exodus 34:6-7 which is the first time God uses this description of himself.
Acts 1:8 really can be used as a summary verse of the entire book!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
JEREMIAH 4-10
“Thus says the LORD: do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; but let those who boast, boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the LORD; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight says the LORD.” – Jeremiah 9:23-24
MATTHEW 18-24
Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” – Matthew 22:37-40
